A common specialist procedure – gefa for short – is to be developed for the judiciary in all federal states. “User-friendly. Ergonomic. Future-proof,” is the claim made for the solution. A mammoth task, for the implementation of which three major projects for requirements analysis, development and operation were put out to tender in 2021.

In the future, the large number of specialist procedures will need to be significantly consolidated. The first step has already been taken with the specialist procedures for public registers, for which the new AuRegis and dabag specialist procedures are already under development.

The next step is to develop the joint specialist procedure gefa for ordinary jurisdiction, including voluntary jurisdiction, which is to be extended to the specialist jurisdictions and the public prosecutor’s offices in further steps. One of the key challenges here will be to ensure that data is exchanged between the public prosecutor’s offices and the police departments without media discontinuity.

Legal workplace. Digital. Safe.

Thinking processes consistently and comprehensively, integrating specialist procedures, setting Germany-wide standards – gefa is one of the most important projects for the digitalization of the justice system, and we are pleased to be able to make a contribution here.
