When the Court and Notary Costs Act (GNotKG) was introduced, a tool was needed with which notaries could determine the costs to be charged promptly after the law came into force and independently of notarial software. The cost calculator still fulfills this task today.

In notarial cost law, the Cost Code (KostO) was replaced by the Court and Notary Costs Act (GNotKG) in 2013. Due to the short lead time before the law came into force, there was not much time for changes to notarial software. The Federal Chamber of Notaries therefore endeavored to provide active notaries with an independent tool for calculating costs in accordance with the amended legal basis, but one that would not compete with commercial products.

Westernacher Solutions designed and developed the application on behalf of the BNotK.

The cost calculator calculates the costs to be charged on the basis of the list of costs. Due to the complexity of the calculation rules, it was a challenge to automatically apply as many definitions of the GNotKG as possible. The costs can be copied and pasted into other applications or exported to Excel or your own invoice template.

Thanks to its focused functionality, the cost calculator has retained its status as an independent application alongside notarial software and is regularly adapted to the current legal situation.
