When I was allowed to join Westernacher Solutions at the tender age of 60, I already had a recognized severe disability with a GdB (degree of disability) of 50. This criterion apparently played no role whatsoever in my recruitment, at least not a negative one.
Unfortunately, I had a stroke in the fall of 2023, which put me out of action for months. While other employers would have tried to send the affected employee “to the retirement home”, Westernacher Solutions left no stone unturned to enable me to return to work.
I see this as a gift, feel more valued than ever and am simply delighted to be able to continue my work for this company.

As a physicist in software development, I am used to being a woman among many men. Unfortunately, male-dominated language still predominates in this industry. When people talk about “physicists” or “developers”, they also mean me as a woman. However, inclusive language is very important to me personally.
When I had my interview at Westernacher Solutions, gender-neutral language was used throughout. I immediately noticed this in a positive way and it made me feel comfortable and welcome. It showed me that Westernacher Solutions works in a modern way and thinks inclusively.
I think it’s great that the management takes up this topic and sets an example. Alongside the opportunity to work part-time, that was one of the reasons why I actively chose Westernacher Solutions.

Until 4 years ago, the tasks of an Agile Coach at Westernacher Solutions were still performed “on the side” by Technical Project Managers. It was only at the beginning of 2020 that a separate position was created here – a correct and important decision to bundle skills and give the Technical Project Managers their focus back on the technical side. And I’m not just saying that because this position was subsequently filled by me 😉.
Since then, I have continued to find more and more answers to the question: “What does an agile coach actually do?”. Because my work is strongly oriented towards the very different needs of the various development teams.
Although the company’s orientation as a service provider and the project management approaches used in each case provide a certain framework, creativity, patience and empathy are required within this framework. I support and advise the development teams and thus also contribute to the positive development of the respective projects.
Westernacher Solutions creates the necessary freedom and conditions for this. For example, I was given the opportunity to take part in an in-depth further training course with a final certification. An experience that will resonate for years to come.
It is a motivating feeling to be given confidence in my work every day. And I would like to thank you today for this trust!

Sometimes it takes a turning point to pause and reassess your life. It was a bereavement in my family that made me reflect on what I really want. Where is my passion and how can I use my time wisely?
For over a decade, I was solely focused on law school and my legal clerkship. But I realized that the path I had pursued so single-mindedly was no longer my own. I decided to leave what I knew behind and take a new path.
Westernacher Solutions was a perfect place to do just that. I found an environment that inspires me and helps me to overcome new challenges. I’ve been part of the company for five years now, and a year and a half ago I embarked on a completely new role. I discovered my passion for IT and product management and moved from the customer consultant role to product management. Westernacher Solutions supported me with training in refinement engineering, among other things.
Today, I am confidently looking towards new goals: As a business consultant and product manager in the justice sector, I want to continue to grow and tackle new projects that will open up many opportunities for both me and the company.
For me, it is essential to invest my energy in things that fulfill me and match my ambitions. I see challenges as opportunities to learn new things and develop myself further. My professional background is seen as a strength at Westernacher Solutions, and I really value the freedom to explore new avenues.
I would like to use my story to encourage others who are also facing a turning point. It’s never too late to reorient yourself, find your own path and steer your life in a direction that makes you truly happy.

I have been part of Westernacher Solutions for over three years and have been able to advise many church organizations on our ISIDOR product in the Church division.
The topic of faith is not taboo at Westernacher – you can simply be who you are. What matters here is not what or who you believe in, but that you approach each other with respect and interest – a principle that is in line with my Christian values as a devout Catholic. I appreciate the diversity of perspectives and the enrichment that comes from working together.
If you have an open ear for your colleagues, treat them with respect and value their opinions and take them seriously, friendships can develop – that enriches me every day. I can say with full conviction: “I work with friends”.

I have been part of the Westernacher Solutions team since 2018 and lead the Project Management Office with a great team of four dedicated individuals.
In the summer of 2022, I had one of the most beautiful and challenging experiences of my life: I became the father of a son. The birth of my first child not only shook up my personal life, but also my professional world.
In the months that followed, my focus was clearly on my family. Thanks to several months of parental leave and a longer period of part-time work, I was able to experience my son’s first steps intensively. It was an unforgettable time.
What particularly impressed me was the understanding and support I received from my superiors and everyone in the team. Despite my absence and the resulting higher workload for my colleagues, I always felt backed and appreciated.
My son is now two years old and our everyday family life has long since settled down. Small everyday challenges, such as spontaneous visits to the paediatrician or changes in daycare closing times, can be easily managed thanks to our flexible working model and self-organized teams. At Westernacher Solutions, family is a top priority and work-life balance is not just a slogan on the website.
